The B.Sc. Data Science Program spans over eight semesters (four years), strategically laying a strong foundational understanding of subjects, while delving into practical applications and recent developments. Our B.Sc. Data Science Program offers an array of degree options, allowing students to customize their academic journey according to their aspirations:

Upon completion of the third year, students have the option to exit with a prestigious B.Sc. Data Science Degree. However, for those seeking to delve deeper into their chosen field, the fourth year presents two distinct paths to explore. The first option allows students to specialize in their discipline, pursuing an Honours Degree that delves into comprehensive and in-depth studies within their major. Alternatively, for those with a thirst for research and an unwavering curiosity, the Honours with Research option opens doors to further academic exploration.

Program Structure

 
 

The B.Sc. Data Science Program has a duration of four years, with the option for students to exit after three years. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, resulting in a total of eight semesters. The duration of each semester is fifteen weeks, dedicated to teaching and learning.

 

 

Evaluation

Evaluation methods encompass both internal and external assessments. The assessment structure comprises Internal Assessment, which is a continuous evaluation component, and External Assessment, specifically the End Semester Examination. Each course is allocated a total of 100 marks for theory, with 50 marks allocated for Internal Assessment and 50 marks for the End Semester Examination. Additionally, practical courses carry an extra 50 marks. Internal assessment is conducted through multiple methods such as Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), classroom tests, assignments, oral presentations, and short projects.

In the context of theory classes, one credit represents a one-hour lecture per week. On the other hand, for practical sessions, one credit corresponds to a two-hour laboratory session per week.

To obtain a B.Sc. Data Science Degree (3 Years), students are required to complete a minimum of 126 credits. For those aiming for a B.Sc. Data Science Honours Degree or B.Sc. Data Science Honours with Research Degree, a minimum of 176 credits must be fulfilled.

Eligibility for Admission

Candidate must have passed 12th or equivalent (Science / Commerce Stream) Examination from the recognized Board excluding NIOS securing a minimum 40% mark in aggregate of all the subjects. Applicants with 12th or equivalent from International Schools, affiliated to foreign education boards like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can apply, they have to submit equivalence certificate of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

 

Registration Fees

The registration fee for submitting online application form is Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only), which is to be paid online.

 

Selection Process:

45% and above aggregate marks in H.S.C (12th Std) or equivalent - Direct admission on first cum first basis. 40% to 45% aggregate marks in H.S.C (12th Std) or equivalent - on the spot Admission after interaction with the Faculty, School of Science, GSFC University.
